Karen is a late bloomer to the fitness industry. Having spent much of her childhood and young adulthood overweight with unhealthy eating habits and no movement, she hired a personal trainer in 1999. That trainer changed her life, helping her lose 100lbs and finding joy in leading a healthy, active lifestyle. Since then, Karen has become an American Council on Exercise (ACE) certified personal trainer, as well as certifications from American Association of Sports Dietician and Nutritionists (AASDN) and Aquatics Exercise Association (AEA).
Having been, and being on, both sides of fitness training she really appreciates the value of having a coach. She keeps her clients accountable and involves them every step of the way in their individual program.
Karen has found it rewarding to work with the active adult population and includes balance, agility and coordination as well as strength training and flexibility for all ages in their workouts. She has done presentations on balance and fall prevention and is a participant in the San Diego County Fall Prevention Task Force.
Karen is compassionate, patient and actively listens to her clients to find the program that is the best fit for each individual.
